As we remember those we have loved, we will look at some practical and spiritual ways of being present with others that are healing, nurturing, and potentially transforming. Discover what is both natural and surprising about this process, including how it affects your life as well.
Too many people overvalue what they are not and undervalue what they are.” (Malcolm Forbes). Are you a self-confident person? Are you limited by a low self-esteem? This sermon will look at what Unitarian Universalism teaches us about self-confidence and its relationship to spirituality.
We sit in spaces made beautiful by human hands, and made holy by our own beliefs and dreams. As we contemplate a new beginning, together, how shall we hold our history and this living, breathing moment? This service marks the end of candidating week with Jordinn Nelson Long; a special congregational vote to call will immediately follow the service.
As humans, we wish to connect, and we yearn to celebrate . . . and yet, the reality: we have questions. Wonderings. And yes, we can say it: doubts. What does it mean, as a people of faith, to also claim the legacy and blessings of deep critical inquiry—and where might we go from here? Join us as we name the questions, embarking on a week with our Candidate Minister, Jordinn Nelson Long.
This sermon will look at the ancient practice of creating ritual to express our deepest thoughts and feelings. You may have rituals in your life that you do not recognize as such. Rituals, though, express what we consider most holy in our human experience whether we develop and practice them consciously or not.
Eight of our youth will use the classic questions of systematic theology to tell us what they believe religiously at this creative time of their lives.

“The Journey Toward Equality for the T in LGBTQ.” Through great effort and thoughtful consideration, our church earned a Certification as a Welcoming Congregation in 2005. An outstanding achievement! Since that time, most would agree that the march toward equality for the gay community has accelerated.
Where, however, are we with regard to full equality for Transgender people? Rates of violence directed at the Trans community remain alarmingly high, especially women of color. What is the impact on our faith community? Are we truly welcoming for Trans people? Is this the time to consider re-certification as a Welcoming Congregation? Are we there yet? Let’s explore together!
