Sunrise service at Fort Phoenix, April 1st

No fooling: on April 1st, our lead minister the Rev. Jordinn Nelson Long will rise at a most un-Unitarian hour to preach the homily at this year’s Ecumenical Easter Sunrise Service at Fort Phoenix.

This service is a longstanding tradition here in Fairhaven, runs approximately 30 minutes, and draws worshippers from surrounding coastal communities. Dress warmly and casually, bring your coffee or hot cocoa, and join us as we welcome the light of hope and warmth of spring back to our community. Gates to the park open at 5:15 a.m.; service starts at 6:15 a.m.  For more info, click here.

Our own traditional Unitarian Universalist Easter service begins at 10:30 a.m., and our 2nd annual Easter Egg hunt on the lawn at 12 noon.  See you Sunday!

“Of Victory and Failure”
A Palm Sunday Re-Imagining Sunday Service

Rev. Jordinn Nelson Long, with Ed Rooney, Luana
Jøsvold, and Gary Johnson

Have you marched this year? Got a great protest sign, or inspired to make one (maybe for the March for Our Lives in Boston tomorrow)? This Sunday, you are invited to bring your witness and your signs with you to church. What would the world we dream of look like?

Drums. Palms. Healing. Hope. Join us as we declare the coming of God’s world, even in the midst of Caesar’s week.

(Messages declaring support for a vision or a people are welcome. Messages supporting or decrying any particular politician should stay home.)

All ages service
Worship begins at 10:30 a.m.
Nursery care provided in Harrop Center beginning at 10:15 a.m.

No power? No problem. Worship tomorrow, March 4th!

Monica Jacobson-Tennessen

Our service begins at 10:30, but if you need to come early to charge devices and have hot coffee, our doors open at 8:00 a.m. If you need a place to shower, please reach out to us by message here; we can help.

We are very excited to welcome Rev. Monica Jacobson-Tennessen, a seminary classmate of Rev. Jordinn’s at Meadville Lombard, to our pulpit. The Meadville meetup was cancelled for tomorrow, but lucky for us the preaching wasn’t! See you soon.

WEATHER CANCELLATION: Sunday, January 7th

Dear UUSF Members and Friends,

Due to incredibly slick conditions on our property, which are affecting the walkways and handicap parking/ramp in particular, all UUSF services and programs are cancelled this Sunday, January 7th.

Your safety and that of the public visiting our building are top priorities, and the unusual nature of this storm created a layer of ice that our snow removal contractor cannot address until temperatures rise again.

We look forward to welcoming you back on Sunday, Janury 14th, when we will celebrate Martin Luther King, Jr. day with an all-ages service led by our minister, Rev. Jordinn Nelson Long.

UUSF offices are scheduled to reopen on Tuesday, January 9th, at 9:30 a.m. Our thanks in the meantime to our property team and leaders who have worked during this cold spell to keep our buildings dry and systems in good working order until we are together again.

In faith, and until soon,

Larry DeSalvatore and the UUSF leadership team

We’re Re-Imagining Sunday!

Starting this month, UU Society of Fairhaven is embarking on a multigenerational adventure–Reimagining Sundays!  One Sunday per month, we’ll “do church” differently, exploring that month’s theme in a variety of hands-on ways.  In different spaces in our buildings and grounds, and through deeper ways of touching our communities, we’ll share fun and laughter, and take a new look at what matters as we build days and lives of connection and meaning.

September’s theme is Beauty, and this Sunday September 24th, we will set out to discover it in surprising places–and to share what we find.  Kids and adults meet in the sanctuary at 10:30 sharp, and wear comfortable shoes or bring your best travelin’ wheels.  You’ll be guided outside on a self-paced scavenger hunt for the lovely and unexpected, or you may remain with Rev. Jordinn inside our gorgeous building, where we’ll look more deeply at the beauty that surrounds us here.  We’ll rejoin each other at the end of the hour for song and a very special invitation.

We can’t wait.  See you soon . . .  and get ready to Re-Imagine Sundays.

We’ll gather in the dining room for circle worship with a guest pianist.  Come for centering, silence, and song.  All ages welcome, and we’ll also have a “maker space” in the basement for creative kids (and adults) who want to get their church on by making something with friends.  No nursery care provided, but our tiniest friends are welcome among us.  Rev.
