Big History Course

posted on February 18, 2016

As a follow-up to his presentation of a timeline titled “A Brief History of Earth”,  Jack Dean, of the Men’s Fellowship, is planning to host a 5-week on-line course on “Big History”. Conceived by Australian professor of history David Christian, the “Big History Project” (BHP) is free and available on the internet. Composed of a number of videos and brief narratives, there are a total of 5 chapters of approximately 1-hour each. The course examines the latest scientific thinking from the formation of the Universe to present day. The session format will include an approximate 30-minute discussion of the material presented.

The course sessions will meet weekly for 1-1/2 hours following Coffee Hour on Sundays in the church office starting February 28th. The last session will be April 3rd (no session on Easter Sunday). The course is free and is open to all having an interest in our origins and how it relates to our world view and UU understanding of our place in the cosmos. Please sign up during Coffee Hour and/or let Jack know of your interest or any questions you may have for planning purposes.
