How Does
a Person Become a Member of the UU Society of Fairhaven?
-
Attend all 4 sessions of the Orientation
to Unitarian Universalism Series so that you can educate
yourself about our beliefs and understand the benefits
and obligations of membership.
We offer a 4-session Orientation
to Unitarian Universalism Series twice a year,
once in the fall (usually beginning in October) and once
in the spring (usually beginning in February).
This is a brief description of the series:
-
Session 1
-
Unitarian Universalist principles,
sources from which we draw inspiration, and our diverse
beliefs.
-
Session 2
-
Our history and theology with a focus
on Unitarianism.
-
Session 3
-
Our history and theology with a focus
on Universalism.
-
Session 4
-
A brief description of our local,
national, and international denomination; the governance
structure of our Society; the privileges and obligations
of membership; the benefits of small groups in our church.
-
Attend church services for 4-6 months
regularly to get to know us and be sure that these are
“your people.” (unless you are already a long time Unitarian
Universalist transferring from another society/church).
-
Sign the membership book in the presence
of the minister and a member of the membership committee.
